Step-1: Locate the file in your machine and extract it
Step-2: Open the extracted file and click on Setup
Step-3: You will be prompted to below windows. Choose the "Typical" one and hit OK.
Step-4: Next, click "Install."
Step-5: Check the box "Run Database Configuration" and hit OK
Step-6: Now, from the drop-down, select "P6 Pro Standalone (SQLite)" and hit Next
Step-7: Check "Add a new standalone database and connection" and hit Next
Step-8: Here, you can put login name, Personal name, and passwords as per will but prefer to put admin in each of these cells. Leave the Base Currency section it is. Hit Next
Step-9: Check "Load Sample Data" if you need to have some sample projects to practice on or leave uncheck. Hit Next
Step-10: Click "Finish," and it's all done!

Well, Primavera P6 is arguably the most powerful project management software.
The name P6 was retained after the most significant update of Primavera P6.
Although, to date, the 18th version is released, the P6 is retained as the suffix.
Primavera P6 can handle complex, highly supplicated, and large-scale projects efficiently.
Primavera P6 can handle 100,000 activities with unlimited resources and an unlimited number of target plans.
Interesting History of Primavera P6?
In 1996, a New York-based small firm called Eagle Ray Software Systems successfully developed a real enterprise project management software solution. The software made by this firm had a look like Primavera Systems Inc.'s P3, which was launched in 1983 already. And soon after, in 1999, Eagle Ray Software Systems was acquired by Primavera Systems Inc. This software was relaunched as P3/e.
In 2002, web-based Enterprise software solution was in demand, and Primavera Systems Inc. wasted no time and released a web-based enterprise software in 2002.
After that, Primavera P6 was released in 2007, versions 7 & 8 were released, but the P6 name was retained.
In 2008, Oracle Corporation acquired Primavera Inc.

Why we call it Primavera P6?
Oracle corporations acquired Primavera Inc. but kept the product name as it is. It has released many versions since 1983.
From 1983 to 2004, Primavera used the P3 suffix for all kinds of releases like P3 version 1.0, P3 version 3.0, etc., but this suffix changed to P6 to avoid confusion among P3, SureTrak, and the Primavera.
A major release was made in 2005 when Oracle released version 5, but the most significant release was done in 2007 after merging Primavera Inc. This release is known as Primavera P6.
Later in 2007, Primavera P6 version 7 (The suffix P6 remained the same), Version 8 was released in 2011, and in subsequent years 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4 were released.
Primavera P6 version 15.1 & 15.2 were released in 2015, 16.1 & 16.2 in 2016, 17.7 & 17.2 in 2017.

There are two versions of Primavera P6;

It's stand-alone and not web-based. The only user can use it where it is installed on. It can handle up to 1,00,000 activities. This is also known as traditional Primavera P6.
- Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM)
This is 100% web-based. This is used to manage large-scale projects and can manage multiple projects at once.
You only need the internet to access it from anywhere. You can share data easily with your stakeholders like Charts, charts, tables, etc. The best part is they need not download this application on their computer.
What are system requirements for Oracle Primavera P6?
It can be installed easily on MacBook, Microsoft Windows, etc., without any hassle. But if you are an EPPM user, then only internet access is required. As for EPPM, there is no need for any installation. EPPM is a web-based cloud-hosted program.
Other Construction Software in the market?
Many scheduling software in the market claim better efficiency, but major competitors are Asta Powerproject, Tilos, MS Projects. But every other has its own limitations like MS Project cannot deal with more than 11 baselines & it's prolonged in use, but its visualization is far better than PPM. Tilos is for linear projects only like roads, railways, etc. I have never used Asta Powerproject and cannot say anything about it but rear their claims comparable to Primavera P6.
Who Operates Primavera P6?
Oracle Primavera P6 is not that user-friendly as Microsoft Project. But one needs a little training to understand and use it properly and effectively.
